My eight year old daughter, Annabelle and I went to Thailand and Cambodia this last summer to visit orphanages. Many of the children we visited had been trafficked and were in recovery. Homeless children in South East Asia are extremely vulnerable to traffickers. If they are lucky enough to be picked up by an NGO and placed in a shelter, they will be protected from traffickers and can attend school.
The trip was a wonderful experience for Annabelle. I have not told her about the crime of sex trafficking because she is too young. She did understand that the children were homeless and abandoned. It was very special for me to see these children through her eyes.
These photographs inspired me to do an inspirational presentation for Soulgems.
